GEODAYS 2026: a recognized event, a renewed ambition
Since its creation, GEODAYS has established itself as a unique and essential event in the field of underground industries. In Pau, the historic cradle of geosciences and drilling in France, GEODAYS has successfully asserted its own identity, combining sectoral expertise, international openness and dialogue between public, private and academic stakeholders .
For this 2026 edition, we wanted to take it to the next level. By entrusting the organization of the event to the valueXchange agency, we are choosing a more ambitious, more professional format to strengthen the impact and attractiveness of GEODAYS.
Objective: to welcome a wider and more numerous public, to facilitate connections even more and to affirm more than ever the strategic role of the subsoil in the energy transition and the industrial sovereignty of our territories .
Around the pillars that make up the DNA of the event (Tech'Lab exhibition, B2B meetings, thematic conferences) GEODAYS 2026 will be part of an exceptional dynamic since they will open a major week of Geosciences in Pau , which will continue with the hosting of the annual congress of the European Federation of Geologists, on the theme of education in geosciences.
We look forward to seeing you on June 16 and 17, 2026 at the Palais Beaumont in Pau for the first two days of meetings, reflection and business around the uses of the subsoil in our territories.

A unique ecosystem
Pau, Capital of Geosciences
The GEODAYS, held annually in Pau, are anchored in a leading local ecosystem, historically and strategically linked to geosciences and subsurface industries, as evidenced by the Lacq basin, a former bastion of French gas production, which today embodies a model of successful industrial reconversion. The region is today a unique testing ground for the energy transition, research, and new uses of the subsurface.
A solid industrial and scientific base
The region is home to leading players in the geoscience sector, including:
- The TotalEnergies Scientific and Technical Center (CSTJF) , one of the leading European players in geoscience R&D, employs more than 2,000 specialists in Pau.
- Teréga , a key operator in the gas transport and storage sector, is actively involved in the development of low-carbon solutions and the energy infrastructures of tomorrow.
- The French Drilling School and IFP Training are major players in professional training in the field of drilling.
- The University of Pau and Pays de l'Adour is a leading research institution in the field of Earth sciences and energy-related technologies.
- Hélioparc is a renowned technology park that stands out for the presence of the first French incubator in the field of Geosciences.
- Without forget the AVENIA competitiveness cluster , the only national cluster dedicated to underground professions. It stands out for its national and international network of companies, laboratories and public actors, which form a structuring and innovative network.

A land of innovation for underground uses
Thanks to its industrial heritage and the richness of its subsoil, Pau and its surrounding region are a formidable testing ground for new uses of the subsoil. The region is at the forefront in the following areas:
- The exploration of natural hydrogen , with pioneering projects underway that place the region at the forefront of this promising energy source.
- Geological storage – for energy (hydrogen, natural gas), CO₂ or heat – can notably exploit depleted gas reservoirs from the region's historical gas activity.
- Land use planning by adapting infrastructure to climate change.
GEODAYS 2026 is deeply rooted in this local dynamic. By choosing Pau, the event is part of a coherent, mature, and forward-looking ecosystem—an ecosystem where industrial heritage, scientific excellence, and collective ambition converge to invent the future of geoscience.
